Important Notice of Possible Text Messaging Scam

Cumberland County Federal Credit Union has been notified of a possible text messaging phishing scam. The text message indicates that it is from Maine Credit Union and that service is frozen. The call recipient is requested to call 1-877-331-2985. When called, the caller is requested to enter their card number, expiration date, and PIN. We recommend that you do not call the number listed above if you receive the text message. Call your financial institution immediately if you receive one of these messages.
Cumberland County Federal Credit Union would never attempt to make contact regarding personal account information through text messaging. If you have been contacted by someone regarding your account at Cumberland County Federal Credit Union, call us at 207-878-3441 to check the validity of the information.

Important Notice of Text Messaging Scam

Cumberland County Federal Credit Union has been notified that a phishing scam involving text messaging is currently affecting our members as well as non-members. The text message indicates that their ATM Card has been frozen. The call recipient is requested to call 1-866-800-7062 or 1-866-380-4682 to reactivate their card by entering the full 16-digit card number and their PIN. We have received some calls stating the message is from University CU and other calls stating the message is from Cumberland County Federal Credit Union. THIS IS A SCAM.
Cumberland County Federal Credit Union would never attempt to contact members or non-members regarding personal account information through text messaging. If you have been contacted by someone regarding your account, call us at 207-878-3441 to check the validity of the information.

This is an automated message from university CU. Your ATM card has been suspended. To reactivate call urgent at 18664074763.
Potential Telephone Phishing Scam

We have been made aware of an apparent telephone scam. Cumberland County Federal Credit Union members have reported receiving automated phone calls stating that their debit card has been suspended. The recording asks the member to press 1 to reactivate their card. Following is the message members have reported receiving:
“This is a message from Cumberland County Teachers Credit Union to notify you that your card has been suspended because we believe that it has been accessed by a third party.” The message then prompts members to press 1 to reactivate their card.
These calls are not being made by Cumberland County Federal Credit Union. We recommend that you do not give any information to these callers and call your financial institution immediately if you receive one of these phone calls.
Cumberland County FCU will NEVER ask you "the member" to provide personal information especially by leaving an automated message or directing you to a toll-free number. Please call us immediately if you feel that you have fallen victim to this or any other scam so we can take action quickly and reduce potential losses.
